ABOUT

ABOUT US

Sukhavati Temple, nestled in the mountains of northern Thailand, is a Buddhist sanctuary with a profound and ancient heritage. Once, this temple stood in solemn tranquility, its incense smoke ever rising—a vital place for monastic cultivation and lay devotees’ heartfelt prayers. However, as years passed, the temple gradually fell into decline. The walls of the Buddha hall collapsed, the monks’ quarters were swallowed by wild grass, water and electricity ceased to function, and what was once a pure land became a scene of desolation.
In the Buddhist year 2562 (2019 CE), a quiet, steadfast monk arrived here alone. He sought neither fame nor position, but simply wished to rekindle the clarity of this sacred place amidst the secular world. With no followers or support, he began, step by step, to restore the temple—clearing weeds, rebuilding utilities, repainting sacred statues—never giving up, even for a moment.
Today, we hope to draw on the goodwill and support of people worldwide, so that this ancient temple may once again shine with dignity. Let it not only be a home for faith, but also a beacon of compassion and wisdom.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is not merely to restore a temple, but to achieve something greater:

Rebuild a sanctuary where the Dharma endures in the world

This is more than a temple—it is a sacred space for faith, practice, and the propagation of Buddhism. We hope it will become a refuge for the modern heart, a Pure Land where the weary may find peace.

Build bridges, connecting devoted hearts around the globe

Through live-streamed Dharma assemblies, digital prayer systems, and multilingual Dharma content, we invite Buddhists everywhere to participate, make offerings, and cultivate virtue together, regardless of distance

Walk the Bodhisattva path, sheltering orphans and the vulnerable

We plan to transform vacant buildings at the temple’s entrance into a compassionate orphanage, welcoming children without support, providing them with shelter, nourishment, education, and a foundation in Buddhist teachings—truly fulfilling the Mahayana vow to alleviate suffering and bring happiness.

OUR VISION

The future we envision is a temple where:

The Buddha hall stands in solemn beauty, the monastic community lives in purity, and the sound of the Dharma resonates throughout the world
Thai villagers, overseas Chinese, and Buddhists from the West all find spiritual belonging here
Children once forgotten by society gain a warm home, an opportunity for education, and the seeds of compassion are planted in their hearts
Kind-hearted people from all walks of life come together, supporting and nurturing this Pure Land, sowing fields of merit in this sacred space.
